Memorandum on cooperation in the field of energy efficiency and energy management between SECO and UNDP was signed on January 30, 2019 in Belgrade by the Director of the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs of the Swiss Confederation (SECO) in Serbia, Mrs. Ursula Läubli, the Director of the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs of the Swiss Confederation in Serbia, Mrs. Sibylle Haegler and acting UNDP Resident Representative in Serbia, Mrs. Steliana Nedera.
The Memorandum aims to specify the framework of cooperation and unite the intention of both organizations to work together to achieve strategic goals in Serbia. Cooperation will in particular include, but will not be limited to, projects in the field of energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy sources that both parties implement in accordance with their program goals, and in cooperation with the competent institution of the Republic of Serbia, the Ministry of Mining and Energy.
Both Parties, the signatories of the Memorandum, are implementing complementary multi-annual projects in the field of energy efficiency, which are: Removing barriers to the promotion and support of the energy management system in municipalities in Serbia (UNDP / GEF-EMS) and the Energy Efficiency and Energy Management Project in municipalities in Serbia (SECO – MEEMP). Both projects have the same general goal, which is to increase investment in energy efficiency measures of public buildings and utilities in order to increase their energy and cost efficiency.
